Cancel categorised remedial orders

Understand why category 1 and 2 remedials cannot be cancelled and the options available to resolve this.

Written by Aurelian Bodea

Category 1 and 2 remedials cannot be cancelled in Access Maintain for safety reasons. This is controlled by the remedial categorisation setting within the PMV contract. If you are seeing an error when trying to cancel a remedial order, it is likely assigned to one of these categories.

When raising a remedial order, the following categories are available:

  • Category 1 - High-risk remedials that require the contractor to complete the work immediately.

  • Category 2 - Remedials that require the contractor to return and complete the work as soon as possible.

  • Category 3 - Quote with recommendations related to the PMV or area that are not urgent.

Cancel a categorised remedial

There are two ways to handle a category 1 or 2 remedial that needs to be cancelled:

  • Temporarily disable the Are remedial works to be categorised? setting on the relevant PMV contract, cancel the remedial order, then re-enable the setting afterwards.

  • Log the contractor's visit, set the costs to zero, and add a note to the remedial explaining the situation, for example, user error.

Disable the categorisation setting

Follow the steps below to temporarily disable the remedial categorisation setting.

  1. From the Admin area, click PMV Contracts.

  2. Select the relevant PMV contract.

  3. Unlock the green padlock icon.

  4. Set Are remedial works to be categorised? to No.

  5. Click Save.
