If an asset does not have a Warranty Contractor, it usually means no contractors are available for that assetโ€™s trade type. Warranty Contractors are assigned based on the trade or item type.

To make sure the right contractors are available to select as a Warranty Contractor for an asset, you need to update the trade types assigned to your contractors by following the steps below:

  1. From the Admin screen, select Add/Edit Contractors.

  2. Find and select the contractor who should be eligible as the Warranty Contractor.

  3. In the left menu, click Trades/Item Types to manage which trades and items this contractor can be linked with.

  4. Unlock the page by clicking the green padlock icon.

  5. Tick the box next to the required Trade/Item Type that matches the asset in question.

  6. Click Save to apply the changes.

After updating the contractor's trades or item types, return to the asset record. Once you unlock the asset page, the Warranty Contractor field will now show a list of eligible contractors, including the contractor you have just updated.

The warranty contractor is only shown when raising a job

If you are unable to select another contractor for a job and only the warranty contractor is displayed, this is because the trade type is linked to an asset-based item that has a warranty contractor assigned. The system will always prioritise the warranty contractor for that asset while the warranty is active.

To remove the warranty contractor, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Admin area and click Asset Management.

  2. Select the required Asset Category.

  3. Click into the required Asset Type within that category.

  4. Select the site where the Asset Type has been allocated.

  5. Unlock the page by clicking the padlock icon.

  6. Remove the warranty contractor from the asset-based item.

  7. Click Save.

โš ๏ธ Warning: We do not recommend removing the warranty contractor if the asset is still under warranty. Doing so may affect warranty coverage and could prevent issues from being resolved under the warranty agreement. Only remove the warranty contractor if you are certain the warranty has expired or the change has been agreed with your customer.
