Create a new budget line

Create dedicated budget lines to allocate and manage funding for specific types of works, with defined access and approval controls.

Budget lines allow you to allocate and manage funding more accurately within either the capital or revenue budget. Creating dedicated budget lines gives you greater control over how funds are used, who can view them, and who must authorise spending before payment is approved.

To add a new budget line, follow the steps below:

  1. From the Finance area, click Budget Management.

  2. Select the relevant tab - Capital budget or Revenue budget.

  3. Click Add New Capital Budget or Add New Revenue Budget.

  4. Unlock the green padlock icon.

  5. Enter the required details:

    • Budget name

    • Amount

    • Description

  6. Under Final authorisation by, select the user group responsible for approving spend against this budget.

  7. Under Budget line viewable by, select the users or user groups who can view and allocate this budget when raising orders.

  8. Click Save.
